-Intro-
Hi, and welcome to my first FUN-DNA tutorial: Crysis Sandbox | MegaTutorial part 01 - Installing the Editor.
I assume that you have the most recent version of Crysis and that you still have the DVD.
After you made that sure you can follow these steps to Install the Editor.
(!) As these tutorials are 'Step by step tutorials' I won't be doing any unneeded theory, which will save you lots of reading, learning will mostly be done by working, not by reading all the time. (!)
-1-
Go to Computer and open the DVD as shown below
-2-
Now open the folder called 'sandbox2', and open the .msi file located in this folder.
If the file isn’t located in this folder, then you are in wrong folder!
Follow the installation wizard.
Make sure that you select the correct folder when asked
(!) If you installed Crysis in another folder, you have to use that folder for the installation! (!)
-3-
After installation go to the Bin32 folder. You can find the Bin32 folder in the folder where you installed Crysis (and Sandbox). On my computer it is this folder:
There you will find the Editor, make a copy to the desktop if you want. That could become really important later on because you are going to use the editor a lot!
-4-
Now start up the Editor and create a new level:
Leave 'Use terrain' on, as you will need it to build things on.
- The size depends on how big you want your level to be. In this tutorial we'll use Heigtmap Resolution: 2048x2048 and Meters Per Unit: 2.
-5-
Next go to File>>Generate surface texture. (This may take some time)
Reload the map by reopening it:
Press Ctrl+G and have fun swimming in your own sea!
In the next tutorial I’ll show you how to create terrain.
Happy Modding!
